Cranberry-Orange Syrup

Ingredients (makes ca 550ml):

400ml Water

150ml fresh Orange juice (about 2 oranges)

Zest of half an orange

Seed of a vanilla bean

400g fresh Cranberry

350g Sugar

Prep. Time: 5 minutes

Cooking: 20 minutes

  1. Combine water, sugar, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla seeds and cranberries in a small saucepan over very low heat.
  2. Cook, stirring frequently until the cranberries have completely softened, about 20 minutes.
  3.  Strain mixture through a fine mesh sieve. Don’t press cranberries too much, otherwise you’ll end up having a jam.
  4. Pour hot liquid into sterilized bottles, cover with thick table cloths and store in dark place for a few days. That will make syrup last longer.

For a Cranberry Rum Winter Cocktail, just mix together a bit of:

  • Cranberry-Orange Syrup
  • Rum
  • Lemon Soda
